Animal ID No.: A5279105 Animal name: Roy

Roy is a five-year-old, black, altered, male German Shepherd that was brought in as an owner surrender to the Palmdale Animal Care Center. He is easy to handle, loved attention and readily ate food when offered to him. He allowed being handled and examined without any problem. Roy is friendly and is easy to take in and out of his kennel. During his play yard time, Roy greeted his animal handler at the gate with soft eyes, a relaxed body and a neutral tail. The handler opened the gate and was able to easily loop leash him. He willingly walked out of the kennel and walked ahead of the runner with a moderate pull on the leash. When he arrived at the catch pen, he exchanged soft greetings with multiple dogs through the fence. When Roy entered the yard, he bypassed the group and explored the yard. As he roamed the yard, he tolerated a male Shepherd trailing him and sniffing his body. Roy approached one of the handlers and briefly checked in with him. As he further got acclimated in the play yard, he approached other dogs and exchange brief greetings with them. Once he observed his surroundings and his company of dogs, he seemed to relax and greeted others. Even though for the majority of his yard time he kept to himself, he remained tolerant and did not display a play style. Roy is recommended to a home with middle school-aged children and would do well with calm dogs at home. To meet him, visit the center during its public hours of 2 to 5 p.m., daily, and 2 to 7 p.m., Wednesdays.
