Animal ID No.: A5501324 Animal name: Nova

Nova is a two-year-year-old white, altered, female Siberian Husky that was brought as a stray to the Palmdale Animal Care Center on Jan. 14. She is a friendly, tail-wagging dog, happy to see and meet people. She allowed being examined and handled, seeking attention from her handler. During her play yard time, Nova was standing in the middle of the kennel with concerned eyes, a tense body and hackles raised as the runner approached. The handler presented the loop leash at the gate. Nova slowly approached to sniff it with caution. She accepted the loop leash over her head easily. She entered the pen with a loose body and a high tail wag. The handler was able to place the collar and leash around her neck easily. She entered the yard and explored with a loose body and soft eyes. She was tense as a female Shepherd sniffed her. Other dogs in the yard came up and surrounded her as they sniffed her body. Nova became overwhelmed and scooted away from the group. She resumed exploring and started to relax. A female Pitbull came up to her and she play bowed and tapped her feet. The Pitbull declined the invitation for play. She continued to relax while in the yard and exchanged soft greetings with all and approached the handlers to solicit affection. Once Nova had acclimated to the other dogs, she was social and playful. She displayed a gentle and dainty play style and allowed other dogs to play with her. She is able to adjust slowly but surely in her surroundings. Nova is recommended to a home with middle school-aged children and seems to do well with large dogs. To meet her, visit the center during its public hours of 2 to 5 p.m., daily, and 2 to 7 p.m., Wednesdays.
